21 Jan 2021

Where did you first hear about Orbit?

I heard about Orbit first on Social media whilst looking for Apprenticeship opportunities.

What is it about Orbit that made you want to apply for the role? What makes Orbit unique? What did you enjoyed the most whilst working at Orbit?

It was being able to earn, whilst gaining a good qualification. It opened doors and gave me valuable experience. Orbit is all about its people and makes sure that we can all succeed, if this is by paying for courses in my case and extending my knowledge where I can.

Insight into some of the work produced

I have worked on the Apollo project and helped test our new IT System for HR/ Finance and Operations. It was great to get hands on experience with Dynamics product and will use this going forward at Orbit.

Where are you now after the scheme?

I am working as a trainee Tester, I moved from Customer Services to IT. I was helped by Lisa Massey who got me on a ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) course, which I passed to be a qualified IT Software tester.

What have you achieved personally or professionally including qualifications gained?

I achieved a Level 3 Business Admin Qualification and an ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) qualification. I have also gained a lot of confidence whilst working at Orbit.

Where do you see your longer-term career?

I hope to stay at Orbit and progress as a Software tester. I am a lead for Employee Ambassadors comms and this will help me shape Orbit to continue being a great place to work.

Why do you like working at Orbit?

There are always new challenges and projects to be working on.

Any recommendations for any future Apprentice/Graduate coming into business?

Get as much experience as you can whilst working in new areas and projects, it is so valuable.
