- What is your current role and what does it entail/what are your responsibilities?
I am currently a Project Manager within the Customer Safety Team. My role is essentially helping to keep customers safe by ensuring the correct fire safety measures are in place such as fire doors, fire alarms and emergency lighting. I also deliver large scale projects, such as replacement external wall systems and safety related works.
- What attracted you to joining Orbit and what was your first role?
I was attracted to Orbit because it was a bigger housing association than the one I worked at previously and I felt there could be more opportunity to grow here. I started within the Development Team as a Development Assistant.
- How have you developed/progressed since joining?
Since joining Orbit I have received three promotions and with that I have gained several accredited qualifications. I now have the support of Orbit as I work towards my Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Construction, which I hope will lead me onto being part of the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB).
- How has Orbit supported you to achieve your career goals and aspirations?
Orbit has been a great employer. Without the opportunity to progress I don’t know if I would have found my way into Passive and Active Fire Protection, which is something I really enjoy.
- What do you enjoy most about your job/what makes you feel fulfilled or proud to work here?
I genuinely believe in Orbit’s values and see people across the business at all levels striving to go above and beyond for our customers.
I am so thankful for my career at Orbit. It’s given me the opportunity to really find my passion for building safety with an organisation that cares for colleagues and customers. Now I get to work towards increasing my knowledge while doing the job I love.
- What are your goals for the future and do you feel that Orbit is an organisation that will help you get there?
Orbit is currently supporting me through my HNC qualification through which I am hoping to progress to become a part of the CIOB (the Chartered Institute of Builders ). This would not only be a great personal achievement, but it would also provide me the skills to continue to progress my career.
