Corporate Induction
Once you’ve started your new role, you’ll be invited to attend a virtual Corporate Induction event where you’ll meet other new starters and gain a strong understanding of the business, our purpose and vision and where your role sits within the business.

Training and development
We encourage all new and existing colleagues to continue learning and developing their skills, as well as completing mandatory training as and when required.
These opportunities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership Development Programmes
As colleagues progress, their focus will change, as will our expectations of them. This is reflected in the three different internal development programmes that are available to colleagues across the business:
- Aspiring Leaders – for colleagues with no current people management responsibilities but have the potential and appetite to move into a Leadership role. It is designed to provide an insight and a clear understanding of the principles of early leadership.
- Emerging Leaders – for colleagues in first-line leadership roles. The programme provides an insight and a clear understanding of the practicalities of early leadership and helps to identify any relevant knowledge and skills gaps and then provides the support and guidance on how these can be bridged.
- Advanced Leaders – a programme aimed at Heads of Service and Middle Managers which is designed to support the development of a deeper, more refined set of leadership skills and to enhance understanding of the importance of influencing. The programme is based around three “Leadership Masterclasses” that cover Leading Consciously, Leading with Influence and Leading Strategically.
Practical Management Skills
We offer a suite of training session for managers delivered via Teams which focus on exploring essential practical, day to day skills that are fundamental for managers to effectively support their teams. Sessions cover the following topics:
- Managing Absence
- Coaching Skills
- Managing Performance
- D365 for Managers
- Effective 1 to 1s
- Manager Soft Skills
Professional Qualifications and external training
We invest in role-relevant professional qualifications and external training, and we’re keen to support the personal development of colleagues and to help them learn and grow within the organisation. Funding is also available to cover the costs of individual professional memberships to bodies such as CIH, ACCA, RICS and CIPS (and others).
Apprentice Qualifications
All employees are offered the opportunity to achieve a relevant professional qualification and learn new skills through studying an apprenticeship program. This is a great way to learn on the job, support career development, strengthen knowledge and skills and enhance personal development. There are various programs available starting at entry level 2 progressing all the way up to a level 7 master’s degree.
