Your role at Orbit.

As a Data Engineer you will own the development and delivery of data solutions, data models and any subsequent solutions for Finance and Procurement and wider matrixed reporting teams. The ideal candidate will be using their in depth knowledge of F&O data structures to guide the development of both the reporting and business user teams.

You will be responsible for:

  • Be comfortable working with Finance & Operations stakeholders, including the Executive, Directors, Data and support teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • To act as subject matter expert/functional expert for the F&O data domain within the Data Architecture Team.
  • To provide technical design expertise to projects initiated within Orbit, influencing business requirements where necessary.
  • Accurately able to elicit end user requirements, develop and articulate these needs to a development team
  • Have experience of core Finance practises, together with Procurement concepts and processes in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.
  • Experience in the use of LCS to manage Dynamics environments
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to convey complex technology concepts to the business and IT stakeholders and push back where appropriate

What will help you make a difference.

To be successful in this role it is essential that you have:

  • Azure Data Warehouse or Synapse development experience
  • ETL skills (min SSIS) preferably Data Factory and Synapse pipelines
  • Development using Visual Studio and Microsoft DEVOPS methodologies for source control, project delivery, deployment pipelines and testing.
  • Create and maintain optimal HR/Talent/CE data models
  • Familiar with Azure architecture for SQL, Synapse, Authentication and Connectivity
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to write technical documents and data dictionaries
  • SSAS, Synapse, Housing Association/Local Authority experience

It would also be desirable to be:

  • MB-300 Qualified
  • MB-500 Qualified
  • MB-700 Qualified
  • ACCA/CIMA Qualified
