Orbit is a fantastic business and one that’s really going places.

Orbit was formed in 1967 with the aim of providing good-quality housing for people who would otherwise not be able to afford to buy their own home.

Over 50 years later, we’re one of the leading housing providers in the UK.  Our services have diversified, our housing portfolio has expanded, and our reputation as an innovator within our sector has grown.  But one thing that has never changed.  Our belief in people and what they can achieve.

Your role at Orbit.

We are recruiting a Technical Coordinator to work within our construction team in the East of England.  The Technical Coordinator is responsible for providing a complete and comprehensive package of technical documents and ensures that all approvals are obtained to allow for a prompt start on site.  You will work with external consultants, suppliers, manufacturers and internal teams to ensure that engineering and technical drawings and specifications are accurate and commercially viable throughout the construction process.

The Technical Coordinator will organise enquiries, designs and quotations and have the ability to recognise technical problems and work to resolve them efficiently.    You will be involved in the planning process and review planning approvals to address conditions prior to commencing on site.

You will work with external consultants in the preparation of technical and production support information and prepare pre-contract development programmes.  The Technical Coordinator will prepare technical design information and specifications in line with the requirements determined by land acquisition and client requirements and maintain a register of current drawings and design information for the production teams.

You will attend site meetings and carry out site inspections as necessary to resolve any technical or construction problems.

The package includes a base plus £5,400 car allowance, annual group incentive bonus up to 15%, 27 days holiday plus bank holidays and much more.

What will help you make a difference.

We are looking for an individual with sound technical knowledge of civil engineering and/or residential building construction.  This knowledge may well have been gained via architectural, planning, engineering or building capacities within a residential developer or consultancy service.

You will be extremely thorough with good attention to detail and be able to build robust relationships where you can credibly challenge decisions and thought processes made by others.

It is hoped that you will have had experience with AutoCad and be familiar with a variety of design packages in assisting the development of design programmes.

Why Orbit?

Rewarding your contribution.

For those who want or need more of a work life balance our view is that this role is suitable for WorkSmart. This means we would consider a more flexible working arrangement, where your hours and work location are managed according to business, customer and personal needs. Agile working arrangements will be discussed during the interview process.

Some of our core benefits include:

  • Group bonus potential up to 15% of salary
  • Car allowance £5,400
  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays and the “Orbit day”
  • Private medical insurance
  • Excellent contributory pension scheme
  • Life assurance
  • A great pick and mix of flexible benefits including the option to buy and sell holiday and much more
