Orbit Group has appointed John Wrighthouse to the position of Group Director of People and Reputation.
Commenting on the appointment, Orbit Group Chief Executive, Mark Hoyland said: “I am delighted to welcome John to our Executive Team. John brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of operating at Executive and Board level.
“John is a highly experienced people leader who has operated in values-led, performance driven cultures in a range of organisations, and I very much look forward to working with him as we further develop our Great Place to Work strategy.”
John joins Orbit after over 30 years working with FTSE100 and 250 businesses and regulated organisations, both in the UK and internationally.
Previous roles have included Shell Energy Retail (formerly First Utility), Homeserve, Clinton Cards and Nationwide Building Society, where he successfully steered the organisation to the top position in the prestigious Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For list. For the last 10 years John was a non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
Commenting on his appointment, John added: “There are many factors creating significant change within the social housing sector, from the Building Safety Bill, Future Homes Standards to the Social Housing White Paper and Climate Change commitments. Attracting, retaining and motivating colleagues with first class skills and talent will be key differentiators in how successful organisations are in tackling the challenges ahead. In addition, developing the company’s culture within a flexible and agile-working context has never been more important.
“But these are exciting challenges and ones in which Orbit is already making great strides, with its award-winning ThisIsMe employee wellbeing programme, sector-leading approach to Future Talent and the WorkSmart agile working approach. I’m really looking forward to working with the team to build further on these and to play my role in delivering Orbit’s vision: to lead in building thriving communities.”
