Six Community Connectors have joined the ranks of Orbit’s existing regional teams to enhance engagement with customers within their areas, understand local needs and connect customers with the right help and initiatives to support their tenancies and personal wellbeing.

Working from Orbit’s Community Hubs, local venues and events as well as door to door in Orbit estates, the Connectors can refer people into Orbit’s Better Days programme which offers free support on a range of issues including managing finances, health and wellbeing, employability and skills. They also play an active role in supporting communities by developing local projects and partnerships.

The investment in these roles supports Orbit’s recently launched Everyday Excellence transformation plan designed to enhance Orbit’s customer experience and help realise its 2030 ambition to deliver amongst the best customer service of any housing association in the country.

Lucy McGovern, Head of Thriving Communities for Orbit said: “These roles play an important role in helping us to understand what our customers and communities need and value and help us to build the local partnerships required to respond to this effectively. Not only do the Connectors offer a visible presence in the community, but can help improve our engagement with customers, increase access to Orbit's Better Days support services and build relationships with third sector partners, local authorities and other organisations to co-design initiatives to improve the lives of our customers.”

The Community Connectors are based across Orbit’s operating regions covering the Midlands, South East and East.

Gina Adamou, Community Connector for Orbit added: “This role is all about listening to our customers and having a good understanding of the day to day issues that they’re facing so that we can ensure that our services offer the support they need in an accessible way.”
