Our staff and partners have raised more than £23,700 in aid of sickle cell disease in our seventh annual charity golf day.
Sponsored in the main by Deeley Construction, Wright Hassall and A C Lloyd, over 180 guests teed off at the Warwickshire Golf & Country Club in Leek Wootton, Warwick, raising thousands for Sickle Cell Society. A cheque for £23,727.08 was presented to John Jones, CEO of the charity at Orbit’s Coventry office.
Mark Hoyland, Orbit’s Chief Executive, and George Obeng-Manu, Orbit’s Development Contracts Director and golf day organiser, presented the cheque. Mark said: “I am delighted to present the Sickle Cell Society with this generous donation in our seventh year of holding the event. Over the years we’ve raised around £150,000 for a number of charities and we will continue to do so as part of our commitment to supporting local people and communities.”
Nick Abell, Chairman of Wright Hassall, Alistair Clark, Director at A C Lloyd and Edward Hudson from Deeley Construction also attended the presentation. George added: “I’d like to offer special thanks to all of our sponsors who made this year’s event a resounding success.”
The golf day also included a gala dinner, raffle and evening entertainment. All contributions to the raffle were also added to the final donation for the good cause.
Sickle Cell Society is a charity organisation that supports and represents people affected by the blood disorder to improve their overall quality of life.
Last year our popular Midlands charity event raised over £17,000 for the Stroke Association.
