Orbit has been recognised for best practice in health and safety with two awards from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
For the sixth consecutive year, the social housing provider and affordable developer has achieved the RoSPA Gold Medal Award for its continued excellence and dedication in customer safety.
The housing group has also landed an Industry Sector Award from RoSPA. Orbit was Commended for Health and Safety in the Public Service and Local Government Sector Award. This status from RoSPA extends beyond the level of the Gold Award and celebrates an organisation’s higher achievement.
The annual RoSPA Health and Safety Awards is the UK’s largest and most influential health and safety programme. Now in its 68th year, almost 2,000 entries arrive every year from over 50 countries.
RoSPA Awards celebrate organisations’ commitment to protecting lives and building safer, healthier workplaces. The programme values leading safety standards and management systems, appreciating excellence in areas such as workforce awareness and involvement.

Orbit has achieved several RoSPA Awards in recent years, excellence in health and safety is a longstanding commitment of Orbit’s. 2021 also saw Orbit Homes become the first affordable housing provider to adopt the society’s Safer by Design framework for all future new-build homes. Safer by Design is aimed at reducing the accidental deaths and serious injuries that occur in our homes every year.
