Orbit is one of 70 organisations to be appointed to the Homes and Communities Agency’s (HCA) Delivery Partner Panel 3 (DPP3).
Recognised as the UK’s second largest developing housing association, Orbit joins a number of national social landlords and private house builders on a government procurement list of developers to build homes on public sector land.
The Partner Panel has been set up by the HCA to help streamline the costly process of public sector procurement by pre-qualifying the successful partners.
It is hoped that the panel will be used by as many local authorities and public bodies so that time saving efficiencies can be implemented to increase the quantum of housing production in the UK.
Andrew McDermott, Divisional Managing Director for Property Investment at Orbit, said: “We are delighted to announce we have been successful in our bid to join the HCA’s procured list of developers for the Midlands, east and south east. This appointment will help us deliver our strategic vision and operational plans across our areas of business.
“In the next year alone, we will build around 1,900 homes across the Midlands, east and south. We look forward to working in partnership with organisations across the country to deliver the homes needed.”
DPP3 will run for four years, active as of 31 July 2017. The full list of appointed organisations can be found here.
Celebrating 50 years as an organisation, Orbit recently reported record growth having built 1,788 homes for rent and sale in 2016-17.
