Orbit tee off again for local hospice

Staff and partners of Orbit, the UK’s leading developer of affordable homes chose to support Pilgrims Hospices for a second year in July at their annual Charity Golf Day at The Ridge Golf Club in Maidstone.

Over 130 golfers from across the construction industry attended the 8th annual golf day helping to raise an incredible £13,351.09 for local hospice care.

Commenting on the event, Wayne Shultz, Regional Contracts Manager said: “We are very thankful for the generosity of our guests and our own employees in the Maidstone office and proud of the fundraising total.

“Pilgrims is very close to many people’s hearts and they share our commitment to make a difference in local communities for those who need it most so we are delighted at the golf day’s success.”

Community Fundraising Manager at Pilgrims Hospice, Leila Ilkhan added: “The team at Pilgrims Hospices would like to thank the staff at Orbit for supporting us for a second year running. The day was a great success and enjoyed by everyone who took part. The money raised will make a huge difference to those who receive our care locally.”

Teams including Jenner, McIntyre Electrical and Kent Design Studio enjoyed a meal after completing the 18 hole course, trying their luck with ‘longest drive’ and ‘closes to the pin’ as well as having a chance to win big on the raffle.

Pilgrims relies on the generous support of the local community to ensure it can continue providing specialist care and support to those living with incurable illnesses in east Kent when they need it the most.

Its patients and their families are supported at three hospice sites in east Kent and in the community in their homes.
