Orbit is celebrating after winning a top safety and compliance award.

At the annual Association of Safety and Compliance Professionals (ASCP) awards, Orbit received the Customer Services Excellence award and was also awarded a high recommendation for Safety and Training and Development.

The ASCP Safety & Compliance Awards reward outstanding individuals and organisations from the social housing and facilities management sectors, who go the extra mile to ensure safe and compliant working practices. The awards recognise new or innovative ways being implemented to improve living environments and communities for the benefit of all.

In the social housing and facilities management sectors, good customer service plays an integral part in keeping tenants safe in their homes. The heating and compliance team at Orbit took home this coveted award thanks to their unique and empathetic approach to resolving tenant concerns both directly and through their heating contractors.

Sarah Whelan, Senior Compliance Officer at Orbit, said:  “Customer safety is of paramount importance to us, so we are delighted with this award as well as being recognised for our safety and training and development work.”

Claire Heyes, Chief Executive of the Association of Safety and Compliance Professionals (ASCP) said: “We received a record number of high-quality entries for this years’ awards and the judges certainly had their work cut out! It is an incredible achievement to win one of these awards, so congratulations go to all the finalists in this category, but in particular to the team at Orbit for their well-deserved win. They have shown great commitment to customer service for the well-being of their tenants. The judges were impressed by their initiative to equip their heating engineers with the knowledge needed to understand and accommodate the wider implications of a tenant’s personal or emotional circumstances, and directly support tenants with advice and assistance to resolve heating difficulties.”

Held on the evening of the 24 April at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, the ASCP Safety & Compliance Awards have become a highlight in the industry calendar. Now in their seventh  year, the spectacular black-tie awards event welcomed over 500 guests and finalists to an evening of celebrating the achievements of the sector.
