Orbit has, for the 5th consecutive year, been listed as a top 10 homebuilder in Inside Housing’s Biggest Builder Survey 2020 with a 6th place listing for 2019/20.
The trade publication’s annual survey looks at the top 50 key players in the sector across the UK and the number of homes they are building.
Orbit, which was formed in Coventry over 50 years ago has a growing portfolio of around 45,000 affordable and social rented properties across the UK, providing homes for over 100,000 people throughout the Midlands, East and South of England.
Mark Hoyland, Group Chief Executive at Orbit, commented: “We have been in the top 10 list for five years now due to our strategic commitment to a sustainable development programme. We continue to provide much needed affordable housing across the UK demonstrating our vision to lead in building thriving communities.
In 2019/20, we completed 1,520 homes, with 1,169 of those for social rent or low-cost ownership. Despite tough, ongoing trading conditions this year, we will continue to create and build multi-tenure developments where people are proud to live.”
Since 2013, Orbit has built 12,000 new affordable homes with their partners and invest around £5million every year into their communities.
Helen Moore, Managing Director of Orbit Homes, said: “This is another fantastic achievement that highlights our drive to support UK housing growth and positions us as a leading homebuilder meeting the needs of our customers by providing homes where people can truly thrive.”
Orbit currently has over 50 sites in development including Arden Quarter in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon and Mickle Well Park, a 450-home, 95-acre site in Daventry, Northamptonshire and The Hedgerows, a 230-home development in Hellingly Green, near Hailsham, East Sussex.
