Orbit Homes colleagues showcase sector at Parliament reception with Home Builders Federation

Four of our Orbit Homes colleagues recently represented the home building sector at the House of Commons, joining the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for its ‘Skills Showcase’ reception.

Jack Bartlett, Ben Marshall, Safia Haleem and Faisal Yousef, who each started their journey with Orbit Homes as an apprentice, attended the showcase to promote the valuable role that skills play in the industry to MPs and policymakers, as well as highlight the variety of career opportunities and diverse range of people working across our sector.

Jack commented: “Being able to represent Orbit Homes at HBF’s Skills Showcase at Parliament felt like an achievement in itself. It was great to be able to give my own perspective and meet the people who ultimately set out the industry rules on a macroeconomic level and effectively shape its direction. The event gave me personal confidence that the industry is taking the steps in a right direction to facilitate the engagement of younger professionals.”

Helen Moore, Group Director at Orbit Homes, added: “There are a wide range of career opportunities in the housebuilding and construction sectors, and at Orbit Homes we are passionate about encouraging others into the industry. With diversity comes a rich seam of untapped talent, greater understanding, and different perspectives that are invaluable to any organisation, so it’s important that we do what we can to support anyone looking to begin their career in our sector. The team did a wonderful job and I’m proud of the way they successfully demonstrated the importance of recruiting, supporting and retaining skilled individuals.”

Sponsored by Andrew Lewer, MP for Northampton South, the HBF’s Skills Showcase provided a platform for apprentices, graduates and new starters in the industry to highlight the sector’s contributions to MPs and Members of the House of Lords.
